Lumea se poate relaxa, Bob Dylan este si va ramane cel mai talentat si original compozitor al secolului trecut. Dar, intr-adevar, a imprumutat versuri din creatia poetului confederat Henry Timrod scrisa pentru Modern Times. El a imprumutat idei si versuri intreaga sa cariera si pana la fragmente intregi din filmele lui Humphrey Bogart pentru discul din 1985, Empire Burlesque. Face parte din intreaga istorie a muzicii folk in special, iar Dylan si-a denumit albumul din 2001 Love and Theft. Iata cateva exemple de imprumuturi si licente poetice:
